In this project I will be attempting to re-design a creature (Yokai) from Japanese/Okinawan folklore called the Kijimuna. I then want to produce this design as a 1:1 maquette, fully painted, haired and styled. In industry this type of model would have several uses; from a shot stand-in for eye-line tests and lighting to a character reference for modellers creating the CG version of the creture for the big screen.
Here is the Wikipedia page on Kijimuna for some background information.
I'll start by posting every little sketch I do up til the final design with any 3D maquettes that I produce, I'll then begin posting the making of the main piece.
This is a 12 week project that will be on display with my other 3rd yr projects at the New Blades end-of-year show at Holborn Studios, London, sometime in June.
